Are all progressives in the U.S. pro-Russia and pro-Putin?
We are not pro-Putin we are anti-war
We are not pro-Putin - we are anti-war.
We don’t see Russia as any more guilty than the US, who helped create this problem in the first place. Trying to be the world's policeman when we can’t take care of our own.
We are opposed to sending $ billions in weapons to the Azov battalion, a Nazi militia that is officially part of the Ukrainians National Guard. This happened after Joe Biden helped install a far-right puppet government in 2014 with Victoria Nuland & co… As the BBC reported at the time the far-right nationalist group “right sector” played a major role in the Maidan coup. A now-deleted article in Foreign Policy magazine dug up by journalist Aaron Mate said "The uncomfortable truth is that a sizeable portion of Kyiv’s current government — and the protesters who brought it to power — are, indeed, fascists."
These far-right forces were funded by the U.S. government’s cutout USAID. This coup also led to a bloody civil war between the Ukrainian government and Russian-backed separatists where 80 percent of civilian casualties occurred on the rebel’s separatist side according to the UN. This of course is not a justification for Russia’s invasion of Ukriane which is illegal and has killed innocent civilians and caused three million to flee the country. This is simply an analysis of the well-documented events being ignored in the mainstream media that led to the current invasion and crisis we are witnessing.
After the overthrow of the Yanukovich government, audio was released that showed then assistant secretary of state Victoria Nuland handpicking the politicians that would make up the new Ukrainian government. Because of this many in the Obama administration used this new puppet government for their own personal gain. How do you think Joe Biden’s son Hunter ended up with the Burisma job? With experience on a gas company board for $50k/mo?
Why are people simply accepting the narrative being sold by paid shills for big corporations at face value? The US Government lied about everything in Iraq, lied about everything in Afghanistan, and of that’s all come out long after the damage was done. Why would anyone be encouraging it again? We certainly are not.
Anyone who thinks the United States’ involvement in this war is for noble or humanitarian reasons is naive to put it nicely. Biden has so far killed 13,000 babies in Afghanistan with crushing sanctions and he is continuing to fuel Saudi Arabia’s genocidal war in Yemen. It is clear the United States’ intentions are to drag this war out as long as possible to weaken Russia’s army. As Journalist Jonathan Cook said in a piece for Mint Press News:
The U.S., by contrast, wants a long, proxy war of attrition, covertly supplying Ukrainian forces – indifferent as to whether they are nice ones or neo-Nazis – to bog Russia down in years of difficult guerrilla warfare and counter-insurgency. The bloodshed will feed the hostility (and unthinking racism) of Western publics towards Russia and Russians, providing the pretext for Washington to sustain the West’s parallel economic war on Russia.
This strategy was detailed by state department spokesman Ned Price who said he was against Zelensky's openness to a diplomatic solution because the war was “bigger” than Ukraine. The United States is clearly pursuing a proxy war over a diplomatic solution. As Dave DeCamp of antiwar.com put it,
Instead of pushing Zelensky to declare neutrality, the US continues to arm Ukraine. When asked if the US is counseling Zelensky on the negotiations with Russia, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said Monday that the US is in touch with Ukrainian officials every day. But she said the role the US can play the most “effectively” in the process is to send more weapons into the warzone.
It is clear the United States’ interest is not in an end to this war but a prolonging of this war. The motive for this is obvious, Russia often for its own geopolitical and cynical reasons has been a thorn in the side of U.S. foreign policy objectives. Russia’s intervention in the Syrian Civil war on the government’s side was a massive setback to the C.I.A.’s billion-dollar program that attempted to overthrow the Syrian government. When the United States attempted a coup in Venezuela in 2019, Russia sent hundreds of troops to stop the overthrow of Nicolas Maduro. By stretching this war out as long as possible by flooding Ukriane with weapons and crushing Russia’s economy with sanctions the United States sees an opportunity to take out an obstacle to its regime-change goals.
The sad truth is that it breaks down to a lot more nuance than just one side bad. All sides have gone wrong. It’s about what do we do now so that we live in peace so that everybody moves forward equitably so that the United States is not threatening Russia with all of our bases everywhere outside their country. What Russia does not have is bases surrounding the United States. But we have bases surrounding their country.
That’s not to even make mention of the NordStream2 Gas Pipeline between Russia & Germany that was about to go operational (which the US was desperate to stop), or the expansion of NATO to add 14 countries east of Germany in the past 3 decades.
Multiple stories & videos initially coming from Ukraine that were debunked as old footage, more recently video of Azov & Ukrainian citizens saran wrapping their fellow citizens to poles, real fascist behavior.
There’s the questionable narrative story put out around Brett Reneaud’s death at a Ukrainian checkpoint. We covered Jordan Schachtel’s Substack article in The Dossier
Recently there has been a dangerous escalation that suggests that NATO may become militarily involved if Russia uses chemical weapons. Biden recently said would respond if Russia uses chemical weapons in Ukriane. This is reminiscent of Obama’s infamous “red-line” comments where he suggested the United States would militarily intervene in Syria if chemical weapons were used. This was criticized by a veteran middle east diplomat who told journalist Charles Glass of Harper’s Magazine that it was “an invitation for a false flag”.
That is exactly what happened on several occasions most notably in Douma, where Donald Trump bombed Syria after an allegation of a chemical attack. Later whistleblowers within the chemical weapons watchdog, the OPCW released a censored report to WikiLeaks that suggested the attack was a false flag. The leaked documents even included an engineering report that suggested the alleged Chlorine cylinders were manually placed pointing to staging.
Biden is again invoking an invitation for a false flag attack that would draw the United States and NATO into this war.
