This pivot was always going to happen but I dont think it will work. To be 'independent' doesnt just mean changing your funding model, it means being free to speak the truth. Even if their funding model steals some extra income from unsuspecting users their ideaological alignment is always with the status quo, with empire. At least legacy media has a certain Tinseltown bombast. Their garish lies are shiny and loud and entertaining if you have no soul. Todays discerning human beings arent looking for distraction. They want the truth. They want to be set free. Any interloper that gets in the way of that will suffer a backlash. The Greyzone and countless other outlets like them have blazed a path that legacy simps cannot follow. Its like asking a vampire to come out in the daytime. Pleeeease....just go and count your cash somewhere dark.
Ya know, this could be good or bad. As a Christian of course, I’m asking God to turn a potential evil in good. Meaning these all of a sudden, freedom seeking peeps are bring in a large number of paying subscribers. The bad, could be the influence money has on ALL PEOPLE, and the potential to bring the bad baggage with them. Now the good would be for others over here already, to pray for opportunities and some heart/mind changes for those jumping the msm ship. AND pray Substack can stay as pure as possible and not bite the poison apple that might be offered.
